What you can expect from the app, and what it expects from you.
Chauffeur is a measurement tool. It records motion and position while you drive and produces a score describing how smooth the ride would have been for a passenger, based on published ride-comfort research.
It is currently in beta. Scores, thresholds and the scoring algorithm itself will change between versions, and a score from one version cannot be compared with a score from another. Every trip records which version measured it, so you can always tell.
The app is provided as-is. Consumer phone sensors are not laboratory instruments, GNSS degrades between tall buildings, and the comfort thresholds come from research on a general population rather than from measurements in your car with your passengers. The numbers are an informed estimate, not a fact.
We do not warrant that the app is accurate, uninterrupted or fit for any particular purpose, and we are not liable for anything arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Your trips belong to you. They are stored on your device, they can be exported in open formats at any time, and deleting the app deletes them. We do not claim any ownership of them and we cannot access them.
When you choose to send a problem report, you are giving us permission to read what you attached and use it to find and fix problems, and to improve the scoring algorithm. We will not publish your data, sell it, or share it with anyone outside that work.
Reports are only ever sent by you, by hand, after you have seen exactly what they contain. Nothing is uploaded in the background.
Do not use Chauffeur to monitor another person's driving without their knowledge and agreement. The app has no feature for this and we will not build one, but the request is worth stating anyway.
